Gayle Boyden Lakey is a trial and appellate lawyer with over 20 years’ experience. For almost a decade she has served as lead attorney representing a Mid South hospital system and medical providers in actions involving breach of contract, debt collection, secured and unsecured claims and insurance matters. Gayle has obtained thousands of court judgments for her clients and routinely assists the courts, judgment debtors and their attorneys in budgeting and satisfying monies owed to her clients.

Gayle has also served as lead counsel providing corporate and personal representation to clients outside the healthcare industry including those in the insurance, trucking, grocery, fast food and general retail industries. She has litigated hundreds of cases involving labor and employment, negligence, premises liability, worker’s compensation and civil rights. Her preferred method of handling cases is from inception through resolution. Where other lawyers often extinguish their representation after the trial phase, it is important to Gayle that she see her clients through to the very end. She has an extensive and successful appellate court practice, so much so, that she often handles the appeals process for other attorneys unwilling or unable to do so.

In addition to litigation, Gayle also works with clients to improve operations, creating and implementing standard operating procedures and working to ensure compliance with Federal and State law.

Gayle is the recipient of numerous awards including Best Oral Advocate in a national competition, Wagner Labor Law Moot Court Competition, in New York City and the University of Memphis Joe A. Moore Award, awarded for best all-around trial and appellate advocacy.

Gayle has served multiple terms on various boards of directors including the Memphis Bar Association (YLD), and Hands on Memphis. She enjoys being a guest speaker at local Memphis high schools to engage in classroom discussions involving the United States Constitution and civil rights. Gayle fills her leisure time with travel and tries not to miss art museums. Her favorite pastime, however, is hiking with her husband and two sons.
